Polar Bear Experiment

In cultures we have been learning all about the Arctic. This week we did an experiment to show us how Polar Bears and other animals keep warm using their “Blubber”. We had a bucket of icy water, some gloves and some fat that we put our hand in. The water was cold without the fat but not bad all when our hand was surrounded in fat. I still don’t want to live in the Arctic though! ❄️

The Arctic

In Cultures we are looking at The Arctic! It’s cold there but they have lots of cool animals to discover. Narwhals are strange ..... they look like unicorns. And baby polar bears and seals are cute but then they grow up! We are making an information board all about it!

I had a great time at the Pasifika Festival watching all the dancing and singing performances from my picnic blanket. The outfits, drumming, dance moves and songs were all really cool and I joined in with some of the hand movements! I want to go back again next year!
